Austral

Austral Precinct was released for planning by the Minister for Planning in October 2009. It is a 935-hectare precinct in the South West Growth Centre.

Austral is expected to accommodate around 8,000 dwellings and 22,000 new residents. The South West Structure Plan shows a local centre at Austral, a number of neighbourhood centres along major roads and employment lands in the north of the Precinct. The Austral Precinct will also be serviced by the new Leppington Major Centre and the proposed South West Rail Link. A train station is planned for the Major Centre in the Leppington North Precinct.

The Precinct currently comprises small rural holdings, farming lands, market gardens and some residential areas.

Austral Precinct is being planned in conjunction with the adjoining Leppington North Precinct, with Precinct Planning now underway.
